It is the busiest time of the year. I am pretty sure that most people feel the same way. It is special as it is the Advent Season. I love the time to reflect on the coming of the Messiah. I even looked up the Star of Bethlehem in my Red Shift Planetarium reference materials. Astronomers think that at the time of Jesus Christ's birth, the planets Mars and Venus appeared to move so close to each other that to the naked eye, they appeared as a new star. Hhmmm... interesting.
There are lots of things to do. We are busy sharing our pickup truck with people who need it to transport fire wood to heat their home. A couple we know are getting married in a few weeks. They asked me to make 20 birch candle holders for table setting for their reception dinner. I have been too busy up to know to do that. I planned to do it tomorrow. As I looked at the temperature of minus 15C this morning, I guess the wood ought to split easily.
We went to Kamloops, a city an hour west from Salmon Arm. The roads were sketchy at best, with black ice, drifting snow, and strong winds. It took us 1 1/2 hours to get there. Then we discovered that we had a flat tire. Still, we were able to make our meeting, get the tire changed and back home safely.
The news showed that our friends out east in New Hampshire and Vermont got pounded with a huge ice storm. I guess a million people are without power 24 hours after the storm hit. Electric service crews from New Brunswick Canada are even coming to help restore the power.
Today, we have church in the morning and Bible Study in the evening. We are starting the book of Romans.
