Finally, rain.

Rain...blessed rain, has been falling today. It has helped to suppress the forest fire. The fire is reported to be 50% contained now. The area closest to us is old and probably well beyond risk, but we haven't heard the evacuation alert lifted yet.

We still hear the helicopters flying overhead. Jannie commented on how one chopper sounded different. I told her it was because it had four blades, instead of two. She stared at me as if she didn't believe me. I explained the difference between a Bell 204 and a Hughes 500T. I think she finally believed me.

We have company arriving today. Our daughter, Jennifer and her family, Joe (husband), Emily, Nathaniel, and Elijah are coming. I gave notice to the security guard down the road to please allow them to proceed past the road block.

I have to shift gears now and find out how to be a grandpa. I have't had much practice with playing with 5 and 7 year old kids. I know! I'll take them hunting. :)

Good that the fire can't get to your house. Wonderfull to hear about Jennifer a.c. I tj=hink you will be a great grandfather to learn them about life in the woods and hunting. But let them be kids!
Don't bring them in contact with hunting yet!

Love you all, God bless
