It is the calm after the storm. We got another six inches of snow last night. Back East, we would have to walk down the block to see the neighborhood homes. Here, since the mountains elevate the homes, we only need to walk out and look from the driveway. It is like a Thomas Kincade picture. The house in the picture is where Tim and Charity live, about 100 yards from our house. The picture was taken from our porch at 7am. Ski'ers, snowboarders, dog sled teams, one horse open sleighs, and snow mobilers love the winters here. I just loaded the wood burning stove. We use it to assist the gas furnace. It will take a couple of hours to warm the floor and ceiling, but when it does, the house will be snug and cozy, with just a hint of smoke for accent.
Got to go to town for supplies. I am so thankful for the 4X4 pickup truck we have. We really couldn't get around without four wheel drive. Speaking of trucks, I made an unofficial survey of a parking lot this week and noticed that about one of every five vehicles is a pickup truck. The next most common vehicle is the 4X4 SUV, followed by the mini vans, and last, the coupe.
In the calm after the Christmas busy time, I am looking forward to studying, writing, carving, arrow making, and most of all, getting quiet again so I can hear from God. I need quiet to hear the quiet voice of the Holy Spirit.
Sometimes, that is how I get whole sermons. I just write it down as it comes. Many times, this occurs about 3:00am and keeps me up till 5am. Sure is nice when I can write during the day and sleep at night. I am looking forward to the calm after the "storm."

hey Howard and Jannie,
Should I start shopping for snowshoes before we come up?
When does spring melt begin?
